Irish Born Child Renewals

Note that INIS has now annouced the details of the renewal process to take place next year in 2010 for those who already were granted IBC status through the IBC 05 Scheme and renewed in 2007. Circulate to persons the information below from INIS on http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/PB09000197

The renewal process will be carried out at the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service, Burgh Quay, Dublin 2, or by visiting the nearest Immigration Office at your local Garda District Headquarters.

Applicants should go for renewal 14 days before their current permission expires and not before that, attend with their Irish children and bring with them
• Original Passport/National Identity card;
• Original GNIB card;
• Evidence of residency in the State (e.g. utility bill or letter from government department.)
The renewal will be for three years, save for exceptional circumstances, and it will cost €150.

We hope to bring you more information and can answer queries in the New Year. Also note that after renewal those renewed will then begin to be eligible to apply for citizenship due to their length in the state - we hope to also offer some information and training for members on assisting their clients considering such applicaitions in the New Year.

NOTICE TO NON NATIONAL PARENTS OF IRISH BORN CHILDREN BORN IN THE STATE BEFORE 1 JANUARY 2005, WHO WERE INITIALLY GRANTED PERMISSION TO REMAIN IN THE STATE UNDER THE IBC/05 SCHEME AND WHO WERE SUBSEQUENTLY GRANTED RENEWED PERMISSION UNDER THE IBC RENEWALS SCHEME, 2007.
1. An arrangement has been put in place for the further renewal of permission to remain in the State to non-nationals who are the parents of an Irish born child, born in the State before 1 January 2005, who were initially granted permission to remain in the State under the Irish Born Child Scheme, 2005 (IBC/05) and who were subsequently granted further permission to remain under the IBC Renewals Scheme, 2007.
2. Permission to remain will be renewed for a further period of three years, save in exceptional circumstances, and subject to conditions.
3. If you wish to further renew your permission to remain in the State under this arrangement and you have not been convicted of any criminal offences, you are required to attend with your Irish born citizen child at the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS), 13-14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2, or your nearest Immigration Office in your local Garda District Headquarters station outside Dublin and to present the following documentation, no earlier than 14 days before your current permission to remain in the State is due to expire:
• Original Passport/National Identity card;
• Original GNIB card;
• Evidence of residency in the State (e.g. utility bill or letter from government department.)
4. If you are unable to attend with your Irish born citizen child or provide the above documents, you must provide an acceptable reason as to why this is the case.
5. If you do not attend with your Irish born citizen child or provide the above documents, and fail to provide an acceptable reason for such absence, you will not be further renewed and will not, therefore, be registered.
6. Renewal of your permission to remain in the State under this arrangement does not in any way confer any entitlement or legitimate expectation on any other person, whether related to you or not, to enter or remain in the State.
7. Renewal of your permission to remain in the State is subject to a registration fee in the amount of €150.
PLEASE NOTE: If your permission to remain in the State expires and you do not renew it, your presence in the State will become illegal, unless you have an alternative basis for remaining in the State.
