Reporting to the United Nations on Health and Housing Rights
Reporting to the United Nations on Health and Housing Rights Regional Information Meetings in Dublin, Limerick and Castlebar Is your organisation working on issues relating to health or housing inIreland? Would you like your voice and the voices of your service users to be heardat the United Nations? The right to health and the right to housing are human rights. The Irishgovernment has signed up to these rights. One method of holding thegovernment accountable on what it actually delivers is the reportingprocess. Amnesty International Ireland is co-ordinating an NGO reportrepresenting the experience of rights-holders that will be presented to theUnited Nations Committee on Economic Social and Cultural Rights at the sametime as the Irish government’s next report on the International Covenant onEconomic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). We are hosting a series of regional consultation meetings during the monthof November 2009. At these meetings, we hope to get representatives ofsmall, local groups involved in service delivery, lobbying or campaigningwork on any issues related to health or housing.
