Identities and Social Justice
Dear colleague, On behalf of the British Council we are alerting you to an initiative which you, or some of your associates / colleagues, would like to take part in: Learning Lab: ‘Identities and Social Justice’ is a public education project organised by FOMACS and the British Council, in association with the Instituto Cervantes, Dublin. Learning Lab is a three-day discussion forum focusing on the theme of identity and social justice. The initiative aims to contribute to wider debates about cultural identity, race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, language, religion youth and age. The British Council is calling on interested participants to take part in Learning Lab and contribute to the debate on identity and social justice. There are three Learning Labs scheduled for 2010. The Learning Labs are led by three international public intellectuals, writers and activists: 13th – 15th April Andrea Durbach, Director of the Australian Human Rights Centre at the Facultyof Law, University of New South Wales, Australia 24th– 28th May Handel Kashope Wright, Director of the Centre for Culture, Identity andEducation, University of British Columbia, Canada and Board Member of theHighlander Research and Education Center, Tennessee, USA 20th – 24th September Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, a UK based broadcast journalist, writer and publicspeaker on race and cultural identities We have attached an invitation for your consideration with information on how you can take part in this initiative.
